The Consul General of the Russian Federation pointed to the increased interest of Austrians in traveling to Russia

Over the past year, the demand for visas to Russia has increased significantly among Austrians. Dmitry Cherkashin, Consul General of the Russian Federation in Salzburg, told about this on May 2.

"Electronic visas have become the most sought-after category of entry documents. After increasing the length of stay to 30 days, the demand increased significantly. In 2025, more than 2,000 Austrian citizens used an electronic visa," he told RIA Novosti.

The diplomat clarified that the entire process of obtaining a visa for Austrian citizens takes four days. A prior invitation from Russia is not required for this.

On April 6, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced that the agreement between Russia and Saudi Arabia on the introduction of a visa-free regime would enter into force on May 11. Citizens of the Russian Federation may enter and stay in Saudi Arabia without a visa continuously or for a total of no more than 90 days during a calendar year, provided that they do not work, receive education or reside in the kingdom.
