Starting from September 1, spinal cord, nerves, bones and their fragments will be included in the list of objects that are allowed for transplantation. This was reported on May 2 by TASS with reference to the order of the Ministry of Health dated January 19.

"To approve the attached changes that are being made to the list of transplant facilities," the agency transmits the text of the order.

According to the new rules, the objects allowed for transplantation now include nerves, spinal cord and its fragments, as well as bones and their fragments. At the same time, the bones of the cranial vault and the lower jaw are excluded from the list.

On April 21, doctor Valeria Zaletskaya announced that hand transplants in Russia are carried out within the framework of the compulsory medical insurance system, but access to surgery is limited by strict medical criteria and long-term patient selection. According to the specialist, the main indication for surgery is the inability to restore the lost limb by other methods. Most often, we are talking about amputation of both arms or the dominant arm at a level not higher than the distal third of the forearm, as well as severe hand injuries.
