In Russia, a "square deduction" has been established for property owners, which exempts owners of outbuildings with an area of up to 50 square meters from paying property tax. This was recalled on May 2 by State Duma Deputy Dmitry Svishchev, the LDPR party.

"The state provides each owner with a free "square deduction" in the amount of 50 [square meters] m. That is, 50 square meters are deducted from the actual area of the house, and tax is charged only on the remaining part. If the house is less than 50 "squares", the tax base is reset, and nothing needs to be paid. Therefore, if you own a small garden house or an old cottage, you are most likely completely exempt from this tax," he told RIA Novosti.
