- Politico reported on Zelensky's change of strategy in resolving the Ukrainian conflict
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has begun to develop a new strategy in which less attention is paid to the American side. This was reported by the Politico newspaper on May 1.
"Zelensky, who last year diligently sought the support of [US President Donald] Trump seems to be abandoning attempts to convince the United States to continue participating in the conflict and instead is developing a strategy of action without their support," the publication says.
It is noted that the Ukrainian leader began to talk less about the future participation of the United States in the settlement of the issue. In addition, the Ukrainian side has begun to consider the possibility of holding the next round of negotiations with Russia in Turkey.
The publication noted a decrease in Ukrainians' faith in US support for Ukraine. In addition, Politico links this to the US operation in Iran, which is a higher priority for the United States than the conflict in Ukraine.
The head of the Pentagon, Pete Hegseth, announced on April 30 that the department had not begun to lay new funds to help Ukraine in 2027. However, Washington has decided to unfreeze a $400 million package of financial assistance to Ukraine that has been sanctioned by the US Congress.
