On May 2, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation reminded about the rules of safe cooking of barbecue in the country.

According to information from the ministry's channel in the Maks messenger, it is necessary to place the barbecue at a distance of at least 5 m from any buildings, 30 m from deciduous trees and shrubs, and from coniferous forests — no closer than 100 m.

There should be no dry grass, foliage, or other combustible materials within a two-meter radius around the barbecue. Gasoline or alcohol should not be used for ignition.

During cooking, it is important to keep water, sand, or a fire extinguisher nearby in case of fire. It is strictly forbidden to leave the barbecue and campfire unattended. After the picnic is over, the coals must be carefully filled with water and make sure that they are completely extinguished, as well as remove all debris.

It is noted that during the period of the special fire protection regime, the breeding of an open fire is prohibited.

Oksana Mikhaleva, an endocrinologist at the SM Clinic, said on April 28 that the abuse of barbecue during the May holidays could lead to a deterioration in well-being. According to the doctor, shish kebab is not always a healthy dish — when frying on coals, products of gorenje and oxidation of fats are released — powerful carcinogens that increase the risk of cancer, in particular intestinal cancer. The fatter the piece, the more these substances are formed, therefore, the more dangerous the barbecue becomes, the endocrinologist emphasized.
