Military personnel of the engineering company of the 1194 regiment of the Southern Group of Forces of the Armed Forces of Russia perform tasks related to mine clearance of the territory and ensuring the safety of supply routes in the Konstantinovka area. On May 2, the fighters told Izvestia about their combat work.

The footage of the objective monitoring of the work of specialists showed actions in dangerous areas.

"We have to walk a lot, the guys work a lot. Sometimes I had to lead the reconnaissance "by the hand," so to speak," said the commander of the engineering company with the call sign Kisel.

Engineering units act as support for other forces, ensuring that the Russian Army continues to move forward. The tasks also include the construction of crossings.

The key purpose of the sappers' work is to check the area for explosive devices, after which explosions are carried out to eliminate the threat. The most important professional quality in this business is attentiveness.

"We are clearing the forest belt. We constantly check the movement routes of infantry and equipment. Even those that have already passed," said the deputy platoon commander with the call sign Lev.

Initially, a potentially dangerous area is surveyed from the air. At the next stage, a specialist arrives at the site and examines the area. After the check, infantry and military equipment pass through the safe area.

Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) can also be used to destroy mines. In some cases, a drone can completely replace a pedestrian sapper, Izvestia correspondent Egor Kildibekov has learned.

"The take-off point is usually close to the location, we fly up to 10 km. Remote mine clearance can replace a pedestrian sapper by almost 100%," the UAV operator with the call sign Phil emphasized.

At the same time, the serviceman noted that foot specialists cannot be completely replaced in the rear areas. Where there are civilians, more careful work is required.

Sometimes the enemy tries to disguise explosive objects by making them look like chocolates or gingerbread. It is also possible to make disguises using a 3D printer.

On May 1, the Russian Defense Ministry reported on the attempts of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) to hold the village of Pokalyanoe. It is specified that the Ukrainian militants were destroyed, despite attempts to keep control of the village. The Russian army continues its offensive in several directions at once. It forms a security zone in Sumy and Kharkiv regions, advancing daily and pushing the enemy away from the country's border.
