The governor of the Magadan region called the collapse of the mine an accident.
The collapse of a mine in the Magadan region is a group accident. This was announced on May 1 by the governor of the region Sergey Nosov.
"There was a group accident at work. I'm not saying fatal, because there's no confirmation yet. In such cases, a commission of inquiry is established. This is the most serious case in the workplace," said the head of the region.
He also noted that since the beginning of the rescue operation, more than 4 thousand cubic meters of rock have been dismantled. One of the pieces of equipment has been removed from the rubble, but no people have been found yet. Nosov added that the grouping of forces and assets has been strengthened, work is underway around the clock.
The collapse of the mine in the Magadan region became known a day earlier. According to preliminary information from the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation in the region, up to eight people could be trapped under the rubble. Alexander Nesterovich, the general director of the company where the incident was recorded, linked the incident to a mudslide. A criminal case has been opened.
At the coal mine, the search for people after the collapse continued all night, over 2 thousand cubic meters of rock were dismantled on site.
