The Pentagon has signed agreements with leading US AI developers on secret networks
Representatives of the Pentagon have signed an agreement with seven leading American companies in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) to deploy their capabilities in so-called classified networks. This was announced on Friday, May 1, on the agency's website.
"The Department of Defense has entered into agreements with seven of the world's leading companies in the field of advanced artificial intelligence — SpaceX, OpenAI, Google, NVIDIA, Reflection, Microsoft, and Amazon Web Services — to deploy their advanced AI capabilities in the department's classified networks for legitimate operational use," the release says.
This cooperation, formed after the signing of the documents, will contribute to the reorientation of American military units to AI. As a result, American military personnel will be able to maintain and develop their existing skills.
It is expected that working in tandem with the designated enterprises will allow the US military leadership to simplify data synthesis, improve understanding of the situation and speed up decision-making in difficult situations. He also supports the strategy adopted by the authorized persons for the introduction of AI and will present new opportunities in three areas at once — intelligence, warfare strategy and corporate operations.
On April 23, the American company Palantir, which creates AI developments that meet the interests of the Pentagon, published a manifesto on the advent of a new era of global deterrence, in which neural networks can replace nuclear weapons. Thus, the authors of the text called on their leading colleagues from Silicon Valley to create AI weapons as soon as possible, thereby participating in the defense of the nation.
