- Medialogia named the leaders of the Russian TV series rating for the first quarter of 2026
Medialogia company on Monday, May 5, summed up the results of the Russian Series Rating (RRS) for the first quarter of 2026. Domestic content made up the majority — 61 projects out of 100 and 55.9% of the total index, the research company reported.
The RRS includes domestic and foreign projects of all genres, except children's animation, released in 2025-2026, including new seasons and sequels. During the period from January to March 2026, analysts studied 1,259 titles. When calculating the scores reflecting the impact of the series on the audience, search queries, views on TV and online platforms, as well as the social response according to Medialogy data (mentions, engagement, views) were taken into account.
The absolute leader of the quarter was the final season of the American TV series "Stranger Things", which scored 15,948 points (10.7% of the quarterly top 100). The top five also included the Russian projects "Lilies of the Valley" (8829 points) produced by the National Media Group, "First Division" (7745 points), the Japanese anime "Magic Battle" (6419 points) and the Russian detective "Sled" (3563 points).
The top 100 includes Russian projects (55.9%) and foreign ones (44.1%). By content type, there are 91 TV series (90.7% of the index), five anime (7.3%) and four animated series (2.0%). On-air premieres provided more than 80% of the weight of Russian TV series.
Experts have identified several trends. January was the only month when foreign TV series outperformed Russian ones in the top 30 in terms of scores, thanks to the finale of "Very Strange Cases." After the New Year holidays, Russian content began to prevail in the rating. Anime topped the month's top for the first time in the quarter: "Magic Battle" became the first in March.
By March, premiere projects account for almost a third of the monthly top, compared with a fifth in January. There was not a single Russian digital exclusive in the March top 30: the share of projects with TV broadcasting among Russian content increased to 100%. Two premiere Russian projects of 2026, Prince Andrey and Novaya Zemlya, also entered the top 5 on March.
On February 17, Moscow summed up the results of the XVI National Award in the field of multichannel digital television "Big Digital". The series "Lilies of the Valley. The Second Spring" won in the nomination "Melodramas/ dramas". The prize was awarded based on the results of the audience vote. In the Historical Series category, the professional jury of the Big Number Award noted the project "Dear Willy".
