- A Russian officer offered a soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to surrender and saved him from death.
An officer of the Russian Armed Forces saved the life of a soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) by offering to surrender without resistance. This was told by the captured senior lieutenant of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Vladimir Antonyuk.
According to the lieutenant, when he and his subordinates were surrounded by the Russian military, he wanted to commit suicide with a grenade. However, having failed to find her, he decided to provoke the Russian soldiers to open fire to kill.
"I was already thinking about how and what I should do to get shot right away. But the Russian soldier, the commander of the group, as I later found out, just started talking to me. That's right, in the right tone. I often (tried. — Ed.), but could not remember the first words. It wasn't even the words that mattered, but the way they were spoken. It was without any aggression, that is, in a calm, even voice. <...> If there had been any aggression, I would have made a different decision," Antonyuk said in an interview with TASS.
According to the prisoner, it was thanks to the words of the Russian officer that he survived. The military man also noted the surprise of the clash with the Russian fighters, since he and his subordinates were far from the line of contact.
On May 1, a captured militant of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), Mykola German, spoke about the shortage of personnel in all structures. The need to increase the number of people in repair teams and housing and communal services is emphasized.
