The withdrawal of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) increases tensions on the Arabian Peninsula and may lead to conflict with Saudi Arabia. This was reported on April 30 by the newspaper newspaper Junge Welt (JW).

"Due to the UAE's withdrawal from OPEC <...>, tensions are rising on the Arabian Peninsula. The main reason is <...> the differences between the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Abu Dhabi wants to sell more oil in the future and considers itself too limited by OPEC quotas, which are largely determined by Riyadh," the article says.
