FIFA president Infantino has announced his intention to be re-elected next year.

The head of the International Football Federation (FIFA), Gianni Infantino, plans to run for president of the organization next year. He announced this on April 30 during the FIFA Congress in Vancouver.

Infantino noted that he feels humbled on the eve of the elections.

"The FIFA presidential election period begins today. It's an honor for me. At the same time, I feel humbled. I want to tell all of you that I will be one of the candidates for the FIFA presidential election next year," he said.

Infantino also confirmed on February 26 that he trusts Mexico ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Prior to this, The Athletic portal informed that the International Federation of Football Associations may postpone the play-off matches of the 2026 World Cup from the Mexican city of Guadalajara due to protests in the country.
