RMC Sport spoke about the reason for Safonov's absence from the Ligue 1 nominees.

The Russian goalkeeper of the Paris Saint-Germain football club, Matvey Safonov, was not included among the nominees for the award for the best goalkeeper of the Ligue 1 season, the top division of the French football championship, due to the insufficient number of matches played. This was reported on April 30 by the RMC Sport TV channel.

"To be among the nominees, it was necessary to play 15 Ligue 1 matches by April 24, after the 30th round. At that time, Safonov had played only 12 matches and therefore was not eligible to participate," the publication says.
