Former Russian Ambassador to the Republic of Congo Romanov died at the age of 81.

Yuri Romanov, the retired Russian Ambassador to the Republic of the Congo, died at the age of 81. This was announced on April 30 by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.

"Our colleague and comrade, a talented diplomat, a prominent leader, and a true patriot has passed away," the ministry's website says.

The Foreign Ministry noted that Romanov had proven himself to be a highly professional who firmly defended the interests of the Motherland. He was distinguished by determination, foresight and dedication.
