Russian President Vladimir Putin held a meeting in the Kremlin with representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Dagestan. The main topics were the change of the republic's leadership, flood relief and support for participants in a special military operation. All the details are in the Izvestia article.

Personnel changes in Dagestan

The President announced that the current head of the republic, Sergei Melikov, whose term of office expires in September, is moving to another job. Putin thanked Melikov for the work he had done.

The deputies proposed Fyodor Shchukin, Chairman of the Supreme Court of the Republic, as a candidate for the post of the new head of Dagestan. The President supported this candidacy, describing Shchukin as "a decent, consistent and honest man." At the same time, Putin noted that the future head of state would need the help of colleagues in solving economic issues.

Magomed Ramazanov, the deputy presidential envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District, was also proposed for the post of Chairman of the Government of Dagestan. The President also supported this candidacy, calling Ramazanov "an active person who proved himself well during the aftermath of natural disasters."

Assistance to flood victims

The meeting participants discussed the flooding situation in the republic. The President instructed to promptly resolve the issues of payments to victims, especially those who did not have time to issue title documents for housing. Putin stressed: "With all doubts, decisions must be made in favor of the people."

The mayor of Makhachkala, Dzhambulat Salavov, reported that about 800 streets were flooded in the city, all utility systems were restored, and temporary accommodation facilities were gradually closing. For four apartment buildings in the flooded area, it was decided to carry out strengthening works, which will allow residents to return to their apartments in the next 2-3 months.

Support for ITS participants

Putin called for more active involvement of veterans of a special military operation in government. He asked deputies and future leaders of the republic to look for such people and promote them locally, helping them to enter the course of civic work.

In Dagestan, the republican program "Time of Heroes" — "Valor of the Mountains" is already operating, according to which about 50 people are trained for subsequent employment in local government and regional authorities.

It was also noted that several current deputies of the People's Assembly of Dagestan volunteered for the SVR zone, one of them continues to fight to this day.
