- The cardiologist warned about the danger of overestimating his strength in the country
Increased physical activity in suburban areas, especially in hot weather, can lead to a deterioration in well-being and exacerbation of chronic diseases, including hypertension and cardiac arrhythmias. This was announced by cardiologist Branislav Bogunovich in an interview with Izvestia.
"The more physical activity, the greater the risk of feeling unwell. You can water the flowers, trim the bushes at the cottage, mow the lawn with a lawn mower. This load is small, although it can be prolonged and lead to overwork, and overwork, in turn, can lead to a hypertensive crisis," the doctor explained.
At the same time, Bogunovich stressed that the more dangerous loads are those associated with lifting weights and staying in an uncomfortable position for a long time. We are talking about excessive squatting or working in the garden beds. The doctor added that increased activity in the country can lead to an exacerbation of hypertension, provoke atrial fibrillation and osteoarthritis.
"When working in the country, you need to focus on your well—being: tired, rest, thirsty, you need to go drink water. And do not forget that in hot weather you need to drink more fluids, sometimes up to 3-4 liters per day, while 1.5 liters is usually enough," said the cardiologist.
According to him, it is optimal to transfer physical activity to a cooler time of day, when the sun becomes less active and a shadow appears.
On April 30, Irina Krashkina, a psychotherapist at JSC "Medicine" (Academician Roitberg Clinic), Candidate of Medical Sciences, reported that working on the land can have a positive effect on a person's psychoemotional state, but it is not an independent method of treating mental disorders.
