- Archaeologist Butyagin spoke about the surveillance of the Ukrainian authorities during his trips
Archaeologist Alexander Butyagin spoke about how the Ukrainian authorities monitored his movements during trips around Europe. He shared the details with the Izvestia correspondent on April 30.
"It turned out later, when I was already in Poland, that they had been monitoring my actions all this time. I think there were some enthusiasts who wrote about it all the time, that is, when I went to lectures in Cyprus, I had them last spring, I just read this paper, that they had already sent the paper there," he said.
He also noted that the lectures he gave in Europe were devoted exclusively to archaeology and the history of Pompeii and had nothing to do with politics.
"Yes, of course, these were lectures on archaeology and the history of Pompeii, which are absolutely humanitarian and have nothing to do with politics."
