An emergency regime has been introduced in the Penza region due to the unsatisfactory condition of about 5% of the cultivated areas. This was announced on April 30 by Oleg Melnichenko, the governor of the region, in his channel in the Maks messenger.

"Due to the vagaries of nature, I have called an extraordinary meeting of the commission for the prevention and elimination of emergency situations," the message says.

According to the head of the region, in some areas the soil was waterlogged, which led to the death of crops. Melnichenko described the situation as tense, but not critical. The emergency regime is introduced so that insured farmers can receive appropriate payments and replant dead winter crops with spring crops.

The governor instructed the heads of the districts to maintain constant contact with agricultural producers and monitor the situation on the ground. Melnichenko added that if the weather conditions are favorable, the work will be organized around the clock. This is necessary to meet the deadlines of the sowing campaign and ensure a decent harvest.
