Putin also noted that there are 47 indigenous minorities in the country.

"Each of them is, as I said, an integral part of Russia and its unique diversity, a guardian of unique traditions, cultures, and characters. Every nation and ethnic group belonging to the fraternal family of the peoples of Russia is, of course, our common heritage. And its preservation, multiplication, and well—being is the preservation and multiplication of the entire multinational people of Russia," the president said, stressing that historically Russia was formed precisely as a union of peoples based on respect for the values and identity of different ethnic groups.

He also noted that courage, bravery, and the ability to overcome difficulties are inherent in the very nature of many indigenous peoples of Russia.

"Well, nature itself educates and polishes the character of those who live in such difficult conditions for generations, from century to century," the head of state said.

Putin noted during the meeting that much is being done in Russia to ensure that people who lead a nomadic lifestyle have access to the full range of social, medical and educational services.

He also added that Russia should continue to strive to ensure that the foundations, culture and customs of peoples complement each other: "Foundations, culture, as I said, customs are not absorbed, but, on the contrary, complement each other — this is what we should continue to strive for."

The President paid special attention to a set of measures to support traditional crafts.

"Currently, an educational program is being implemented in the Russian regions to study 76 languages of the peoples of Russia, including indigenous minorities. There is a whole range of measures in place to support traditional crafts, reindeer husbandry, hunting, and more," he said.

Putin also said that he had visited places where fishing was carried out, communicated with people without cameras and saw how life was organized: "Of course, all this leaves its mark on the character, on the perception of the world around them, on the relations between people."

He also emphasized that Russian business understands that it is necessary to take into account the interests of indigenous peoples when implementing their projects.

"The interests of people, including those whose ancestors have lived on these lands for centuries, are an absolute priority. When we discuss these projects with members of the government and representatives of our large companies, I speak responsibly and always pay attention to this," Putin said, noting that Russia's strength and versatility lie in its diversity.
