Peskov called Kiev's position optional for declaring a truce on Victory Day.
Russia does not need a reaction from the Kiev regime to declare a truce on Victory Day. This was announced on Thursday, April 30, by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
"She's not needed for that. This is the decision of the head of the Russian state [Vladimir Putin], and it will be implemented," Peskov told Life journalist Alexander Yunashev.
The fact that Putin is ready to declare a truce on the occasion of the approaching Victory Day became known the night before. It was noted that this initiative received support from US President Donald Trump, with whom the Russian leader held telephone talks on April 29.
The next day, Peskov said that at the moment, a truce is planned only for the date of the holiday itself — May 9.
