The cardiologist called health-threatening mistakes when frying kebabs
Improper storage of meat for kebabs can lead to food intoxication, and excessive alcohol consumption can lead to atrial fibrillation and hypertensive crisis. Branislav Bogunovich, a cardiologist and deputy chief physician of the Intermedcenter clinic, told Izvestia how this happens and how to protect yourself.
"It is important to strictly observe the correct storage of meat. If these measures are not followed, harmful bacteria will multiply very quickly in the meat, which will lead to food poisoning. Also, frequent consumption of fatty meat provokes an increase in cholesterol and triglycerides. Therefore, it is worth knowing the measure when eating fatty meats, for example, marbled beef," the doctor warned.
Bogunovich also noted the risks associated with excessive alcohol consumption.
"Excessive alcohol consumption can cause problems such as hypertensive crisis and atrial fibrillation even in healthy young people. Everything is possible in moderation, but the main thing is not to overdo it. Strong alcohol raises triglycerides very much. Moreover, if small doses raise a high density, which can be conditionally called good cholesterol, then large triglycerides raise the autogenic fraction, which causes significant harm to the body," the doctor said.
Bogunovich also gave advice: vegetables should go with any meat, as they partially bind cholesterol in the intestine and prevent it from being absorbed. Diabetics are strongly discouraged from eating potatoes and fatty parts of meat.
Neurologist Pavel Khoroshev, in an interview with Izvestia, noted that balance is needed in everything. Fat cannot be completely eliminated, but excessive consumption leads to obesity.
"By itself, fat does not pose any danger. Our body needs a lot of fat. The so-called "terrible" cholesterol makes up the vast majority of our hormones. For example, if all the water is removed from our brain, it will consist of 95% cholesterol. If you consume a reasonable amount of fat daily, in the range of 30-40 g for a middle-aged person, then the fat will be converted into energy. But if you overdo it, it will start to be stored away, which leads to obesity," explained Khoroshev.
Earlier, Izvestia told how fruits and nuts help with fatty liver disease.
