Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda said he supports the country's joining the US-led mission to ensure freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. This was reported by the Reuters news agency on April 30.

"We have received an offer from the United States to join the coalition to restore navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, and I intend to submit this proposal to the State Defense Council in the near future," Nauseda said.

At the same time, he clarified that in order for Vilnius to participate in the mission in the strait, it would be necessary to obtain a mandate from the Lithuanian Seimas.

The day before, the WSJ newspaper reported on the US intention to create a coalition on the Strait of Hormuz. It was noted that the US-led coalition will be engaged in intelligence sharing, coordination of diplomacy and monitoring compliance with sanctions.

American leader Donald Trump said on April 29 that the United States does not plan to lift the naval blockade on Iran until the parties reach an agreement on the Islamic Republic's nuclear program.
