Iran intends to continue to ensure security in the Persian Gulf and Hormuz.
Iran intends to continue to control the waters of the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz, ensuring security without the participation of the United States. This was announced on April 30 by the Supreme leader of the Islamic Republic, Mojtaba Khamenei.
"Iran will ensure the security of the region and manage the Strait of Hormuz without the presence of foreign forces," said a statement posted on Tasnim's Telegram channel.
Tehran considers the presence of foreign military personnel to be a factor of instability in the region.
Khamenei stresses that Iran views the Persian and Oman Gulfs as a region of common destiny with neighboring countries, and that the "shameful failure of the United States" opens a new chapter for these waters.
On April 30, US President Donald Trump instructed his aides to prepare for a prolonged blockade of Iran in the Strait of Hormuz in order to financially exhaust Tehran, as the head of the White House considers the resumption of bombing a risky option.
CNN reported on April 27 that the United States and Iran continue to conduct behind-the-scenes negotiations on a peaceful settlement, the first stage of which may be an agreement to return to the pre-war status quo and resume free navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.
