256 road accidents have occurred in Russia over the past 24 hours.
Over the past day, 256 accidents have occurred on Russian roads, in which 24 people were killed and 310 injured. 17 of the dead were passengers and drivers. This was reported to Izvestia on April 30 by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
23 accidents involving buses were recorded, in which there were no fatalities, but 41 road users, including one child, required medical attention. 11 bus accidents were caused by traffic violations committed by their drivers.
So, in Astrakhan in the morning, a 32-year-old driver of a suburban minibus traveling from the village of Nachalovo to the regional capital with 10 passengers in the cabin, collided with a crossover while passing a regulated intersection at a forbidding traffic light, and then overturned. As a result of the accident, the driver of the passenger vehicle and eight passengers of the bus were injured. After receiving medical treatment, they were referred for outpatient treatment.
The State Traffic Inspectorate reminded bus drivers that the life and health of their passengers during transportation depend entirely on their driving skills, driving experience, well-being and law-abiding driving behavior. You should always go out on a work shift well rested and healthy, and before leaving for the route it is necessary to check the technical condition of the entrusted vehicles. When traveling in urban conditions, it is necessary to take advantage of the lanes allocated for public transport, and when performing intercity and inter-regional passenger flights, observe the permitted speed limit and traffic rules. It is always necessary to take into account the requirements of markings, road signs and traffic lights and avoid even the prerequisites for an accident.
As a result of 66 accidents, 29 of which occurred at pedestrian crossings and 37 outside their area of operation, seven pedestrians were killed, and 59 more were injured in various degrees of severity. Among the injured were 13 child pedestrians, nine of whom were injured when crossing the roadway outside pedestrian crossings.
There were also 33 accidents involving minors, as a result of which 35 young road users were injured, including 10 child passengers and two motor transport drivers. One child, a pedestrian, was killed. So, in the Moscow Zelenograd in the morning, a 56-year-old driver of a harvesting and loading tractor ran over a 13-year-old schoolboy who was unaccompanied on the street while working. The boy climbed onto the working brush of the tractor on the move, after which he fell into the rotating mechanism. The sixth grader died.
On the eve of the long holidays, the State Traffic Inspectorate recommended that parents monitor the leisure time and behavior of their young children.: do not let them go outside alone, unattended, especially in the evening, and always accompany children of preschool or primary school age on weekends to educational classes, clubs or sports sections. The absence or weakening of parental control on the street for children of preschool and primary school age often leads to injuries or deaths of young road users, the department stressed.
Motorists were urged to be more careful on the roads of towns and cities. Special care should be taken when approaching pedestrian crossings, slowing down in front of them until they come to a complete stop in order to allow pedestrians crossing the roadway. The behavior of children on the road is often unpredictable, so you do not need to rush to resume traffic even when the traffic light is clear — first you need to make sure that the crossing is completely free of pedestrians.
In addition, drivers were advised to be especially collected and careful when driving through courtyards and maneuvering on them. In such places, there is a high probability of an unexpected appearance of underage pedestrians or cyclists due to parked vehicles blocking the view of a maneuvering motorist or a driver of utility vehicles.
"On the eve of the May holidays, the State Traffic Inspectorate also draws the attention of drivers to the need for strict compliance with traffic rules in the spring period with its unstable weather and frequent mixed precipitation and fog. Motorists should be more careful, avoid dangerous maneuvers, slow down, and increase the interval and distance between vehicles. Driver's discipline is especially necessary if there are child passengers in your car, who should be transported in compliance with all applicable safety requirements," said Police Colonel Sergey Hrantskevich, head of the Department for Road Safety Promotion and Prevention of Child Traffic Injuries at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.
When planning long-distance trips in regions with unstable flood conditions or poor weather conditions, the State Traffic Inspectorate recommends monitoring the weather forecast and media information from areas of closures or traffic restrictions. In case of a negative forecast, you should temporarily refrain from using personal vehicles for long trips or plan routes in advance to safely avoid problematic areas.
Earlier in the day, it was reported that by the end of the first quarter of 2026, the number of road accidents in Moscow decreased by 16% compared to last year, and the death toll by 40%.
