- CNN reported that the Pentagon underestimated the cost of the war in Iran by $20 billion.
The Pentagon's announced spending level for the military operation in Iran of $25 billion is an underestimate. This was reported on April 29 by CNN, citing three sources.
According to media reports, this amount does not take into account the cost of repairing damage to American military bases in the region.
One of the channel's sources clarified that the real estimate of the cost of the conflict in Iran is approaching the mark of $40-50 billion, including the cost of restoring US military facilities and replacing destroyed equipment.
It is noted that during the two months of confrontation in the Middle East, Iran destroyed several critically important American radar systems and other equipment. Among them are the radar systems of the THAAD (Terminal High Altitude Area Defense) air defense complex in Jordan and the United Arab Emirates, as well as the E-3 Sentry reconnaissance aircraft of the US Air Force at an air base in Saudi Arabia.
The day before, the acting head of the Pentagon's finance department, Jules Hurst, reported that the US Pentagon expects to receive another $1.5 trillion for an operation against Iran. He explained that the specified amount includes the costs of operation and maintenance, as well as equipment replacement.
