- Medvedev noted the correctness of Emperor Alexander III's words about Russia's two allies
Emperor Alexander III was right when he said that Russia had only two allies, the army and the navy. This was announced on Thursday, April 30, by Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, at the Znanie marathon. The first ones."
"Alexander III turned out to be right with his famous words about the fact that Russia has only two allies, and you remember perfectly well who these allies are — the army and the navy. <...> As president, I tried to establish stable relations with the Europeans. And it seemed to me that they understood our concerns after all. But, unfortunately, the subsequent development of events proved the opposite," he said.
Recalling the process of building relations with the West, Medvedev said that at that moment many looked at what was happening "through rose-colored glasses."
"They (the Europeans. They don't understand a lot of what we say, they don't want to hear us, and, to put it bluntly, they want our state to die. Someone in an open form, based on their Russophobic ideas, but someone is somehow so neat," he stated.
In the same speech, Medvedev pointed to the "deep furrow" that has formed between Russia and the European Union (EU). According to him, this happened due to the fact that the association is headed by "idiots who themselves destroy what has been done for decades."
