Experts have noticed a growing interest of Russians in space subjects

Russians have become more interested in trips to space objects and educational initiatives in the field of space. This conclusion was reached at the Center for the Operation of Ground-based Space Infrastructure Facilities (CENKI).

According to analysts, tourist trips to space-related locations mainly attract Russians aged 35-55, many of whom come as whole families. In addition, as noted by Megafon experts, mobile Internet consumption increases 15 times during launches within a radius of 10 km from the launch tables. The bulk of this traffic comes from live broadcasts on social networks and video content in messengers.

"Space is once again attracting the general public, and many are eager to visit iconic places by sharing their emotions online. (...) Over the past year, we have upgraded five base stations at VDNKh in the space exhibition area, and also successfully upgraded the network in the Amur region. Our base stations at the Vostochny cosmodrome are ready to serve hundreds of viewers at a time, if necessary," said Timur Fakhrutdinov, Director of Infrastructure Projects at Megafon in the Moscow region.

The theme of space attracts residents of Moscow, St. Petersburg, Samara, and Yekaterinburg the most. It is from here that the most requests come to the Summer Space School, whose online attendance has increased by 35% compared to last year. Besides young residents of the two capitals, there is an active interest in specialized Olympiads and competitions in the Kemerovo Region, Yakutia and Tatarstan. The growth of traffic to the website of the Center for Space Education increased by 280% over the year.

"Interest in space is growing, and we, at the Summer Space School, see this very clearly. In two years, the number of students has grown by 140% among adults and children over the age of 16. Participants from various cities come to us, from Kaliningrad to Irkutsk, and we see that the love of space can unite everyone," said Tatiana Miteva, director of the Summer Space School.
