Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin congratulated fire protection officers on their professional holiday in the Maks messenger. He noted that the most advanced fire extinguishing and incident management technologies are being introduced in Moscow.

"As a result, Moscow has become a leader among the world's megacities in fire protection," Sobyanin wrote.

According to the mayor, the number of fires and their consequences has been reduced by four times.: Rescuers and firefighters need less than seven minutes to arrive at the scene of a call anywhere in the metropolis, including thanks to the work of the Moscow Aviation Center. The waiting time for the 112 service response has also been significantly reduced.

Moscow rescuers have at their disposal more than 700 units of fire—rescue and special equipment and over 150,000 units of equipment, and some samples have no analogues in Russia, Sobyanin said. For example, in 2026, a transport and rescue cabin was put into service, helping to evacuate people from high-rise buildings and hard-to-reach places.

As the mayor noted, Moscow firefighters and rescuers are constantly learning and improving their skills. Last year, Vadim Shevchuk and Alexey Rodin became world champions in fire and rescue sports as part of the Russian national team. This year, firefighter Sergey Tsarev set a record at the All-Russian "Legendary Challenge" competitions for high-speed lifting of gas and smoke protectors.
