The Traffic Management Center (TSODD) reported on the technical readiness of traffic cameras for photo-video recording of violations to reduce the non-penalized speed limit from 20 to 2-3 km/h. This was stated by Mikhail Kizlyk, CEO of the data center, RBC reports in his Telegram channel on April 30.

"If you look at the passport of the latest modern camera for photo and video recording, an error of 1 km/h is indicated, that is, technologically, the cameras are ready to record the speed with minimal error. We are always in favor of... <...> It is possible to set 2-3 km/h," Kizlyk said in an interview with RBC Radio.

The CEO of the data center clarified that the organization advocates lowering the threshold, but the appropriate decision should be made by the government of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

As Daniil Bessarabov, first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on State Construction and Legislation, emphasized earlier in April, the United Russia faction does not support lowering the non-penalized speed limit, which currently stands at 20 km/h.

At the end of 2024, the Russian Interior Ministry announced that since 2019, proposals to reduce the non-fined speed limit had been repeatedly made by representatives of various organizations and experts in the road transport industry, but the Russian Interior Ministry has consistently opposed and strongly opposes such an initiative.
