For the first time, AvtoVAZ introduced the installation of a panoramic roof

Automated equipment for installing a panoramic roof has been installed on the main conveyor at AvtoVAZ as part of the pre-production of the Lada Azimut crossover, the company said in a statement received by Izvestia on April 30. This model will be the first Lada with a panoramic roof and a sliding sunroof.

According to AvtoVAZ, it is planned that about 40% of Azimut cars will be equipped with this option. The roof installation stand is designed specifically for Azimut production. It is noted that the equipment was designed, supplied and debugged by a Russian contractor who works with almost all car manufacturers in the country.

The robotic panoramic roof mounting stand is mounted at the very beginning of assembly line No. 1, where the co-platform Aura and Vesta are manufactured, and Azimut will be produced. To install the roof, which takes about 4 minutes, the body is redirected to a separate section so that the installation can be carried out without stopping the main conveyor.

With the help of an automatic manipulator, the roof is installed in the car and centered along special guides. Then the wrenches integrated into the manipulator automatically tighten the screws around the perimeter of the panoramic roof. The wrenches are set to the required tightening torque. In case of a mismatch, the wrench stops and gives a signal to the operator.

Previously, laser welding technology was first introduced at AvtoVAZ for the manufacture of panoramic roof bodies. The launch of serial production of the crossover is scheduled for the third quarter of this year.
