The head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation, Alexander Kurenkov, on Thursday, April 30, recorded a video message on the occasion of the Russian Fire Protection Day.

"Today we celebrate Fire Protection Day, a celebration of those who are the first to enter the smoke and flames, who do not know "someone else's trouble." We are the only service in the country where the law prescribes a strict standardized arrival time," he said.

Kurenkov noted that now the fire department is being re-equipped and improved. Modernization helps to respond to new challenges in this field. At the same time, the spirit of camaraderie and fire brotherhood will always occupy a special place in the work of the service's specialists.

"No matter what equipment we have in our arsenal, the heart of our service will always be a firefighter and a combat crew, a combat cell based on the fire brotherhood," the head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations emphasized.

He shared examples from personal experience when such a reverent attitude to the service was manifested in practice. For example, combined teams from different regions of Russia worked together to extinguish one of the major fires. The specialists continued to do their duty despite the harsh conditions — soot, soot, and the need to work for days without sleep. During the liquidation of another fire, one young firefighter refused to leave the extinguishing site, although he "trampled his feet in blood."

"This is the real core force of our department. When trouble comes, there are no regions or ranks — there is a single fist, there is cohesion, which is tested in the heat of the fire," Kurenkov said.

At the same time, it is reported that fire service workers help residents in other difficult and dangerous situations.

"Dear friends! You don't just put out fires, you are the first to come to the rescue in any trouble: to an accident, to an elderly person who cannot open the door, to a child in trouble," the head of the department noted.

On April 28, Kurenkov flew to the Krasnodar Territory to personally monitor the work on extinguishing the fire and eliminating its consequences at the oil refinery in Tuapse. On his instructions, the grouping of forces and means in the region was strengthened. Consolidated detachments of the territorial departments of the department from the Krasnodar Territory and the Rostov region were sent to the scene of the incident.
