Onishchenko named a possible cause of the outbreak of an unknown disease in Burundi
The unknown disease that spread to Burundi and caused several fatal cases could have been caused by an intestinal infection. This assessment was made on April 30 by Gennady Onishchenko, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, epidemiologist, and Deputy President of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences.
"It's most likely an intestinal infection. But what is it — well, first of all, it's probably viral. We know all bacterial intestinal infections," he told TASS.
