The working day on Thursday, April 30, in 2026 in Russia is shortened. The working time for employees with a five-day schedule has been reduced by one hour, said Ivan Kravchenko, a junior researcher at the INSAP Center of the IPEI Presidential Academy.

"The shortening of the working day on April 30 is due to the current norms of labor legislation. If the next day is an official non—working holiday (in this case, May 1), the working day on the eve is reduced by one hour," he told RIA Novosti.

At the same time, it is noted that the work schedule may differ in companies with a continuous work cycle. However, a shortened working day will be in effect in most companies where employees are employed five days a week.

The short working week, which will last four days until April 30, began in Russia on April 27. It is associated with the celebration of Spring and Labor Day. In 2026, May 1 falls on a Friday, so with a five-day schedule, this day will be a non-working day.
