The Investigative Committee (IC) has opened a criminal case against the former head of Rospotrebnadzor in the Chelyabinsk region, Anatoly Semenov. This was announced on April 29 by the local Investigative Committee.

"The investigative authorities of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Chelyabinsk Region have opened a criminal case against the 62-year-old former head of the Federal Service for Supervision of Consumer Rights Protection and Human Welfare in the Chelyabinsk Region," the Telegram channel said.

The publication notes that Semenov is suspected of committing a crime under Article 289 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (illegal participation in entrepreneurial activity. — Ed.), his sons are also suspected of committing a crime.

It is known that the criminal case was initiated on the basis of materials received from employees of the Federal Security Service of Russia in the Chelyabinsk region. The former head of the Rospotrebnadzor Department of the Chelyabinsk Region and one of his sons had previously been charged under part three of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation; a preventive measure in the form of detention was chosen against these persons. The location of the third person involved in the criminal case is currently being established.

On April 29, it was reported on the website of the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee for the Sverdlovsk Region that the Investigative Committee had opened a criminal case on unlawful imprisonment after reports of violations at the Yekaterinburg rehabilitation center. It was noted that law enforcement officers are working at the site, and an inspection is underway.
