The restoration of the facades of the poet Apollon Maikov's apartment building, an object of cultural heritage of federal significance, has been completed in Moscow. This was announced on Wednesday, April 29, by the press service of the Department of Cultural Heritage of the capital.
The head of the department, Alexei Yemelyanov, noted that the building of the end of the XVIII century is a striking example of classicism, and its key elements are the central part of the facade with projections, mascaras and a triangular pediment. According to him, during the work, special attention was paid to the white stone details: they were cleaned, restored, treated and protected from external influences, the Moscow City News agency reports.
The specialists also cleaned the old layers of decoration, updated the plaster and painted the facades in a historic color. All work was carried out under the supervision of the Moscow City Heritage and in accordance with the approved project.
In February, it was noted that over the past decade, specialists had carried out major repairs to the historical decor of eight houses with semicircular risalites, rare elements in the capital's residential buildings.
