In order for the family of a child with autism to receive effective help, this diagnosis should be made as early as possible, Ivan Martynikhin, a psychiatrist, head of the medical and psychological center "Solution", and an expert at the Anton Tut Near charitable Foundation, told Izvestia. According to him, screening should be carried out in a child at 18 and 24 months. Diagnosis of ASD (autism spectrum disorder) in children aged two to three years is considered timely.

If help is provided on time, 20% of children will have no signs of autism by adulthood, the expert emphasized. In 30%, they will be expressed in a mild form. The absence of noticeable manifestations of ASD in this case will not indicate that the doctors have misdiagnosed.

"This is the result of timely habilitation and training. This is precisely the purpose of early diagnosis — to provide timely assistance to the child and reduce the severity of difficulties by adulthood. Early care saves resources for both families and the state.: The younger the child, the easier it is for him to master the necessary skills," the source emphasized.
