Experts have found out the frequency of breakdowns of Chinese cars last winter
Last winter, the share of Chinese car owners in Russia who repaired a car no more than twice decreased from 38.5% to 35%, and 54% did not encounter any problems. On April 30, <url> experts told Izvestia about this based on the results of a car operation study.
According to the survey results, more than half of car owners did not encounter any technical problems during the winter period. 38% of car owners under the age of three replied that they had never been repaired, which is 3% more than a year ago. As for cars of all ages, just like last year, 4% of them had five or more breakdowns.
In terms of the amount of repair costs, there have been minor changes. A year ago, 35% of respondents said they had spent less than 20,000 rubles on repairs, and this winter their number has decreased to 30%. The group of those who spent from 20,000 to 50,000 rubles decreased by 2 percentage points (percentage points) to 37%, and 20% of the survey participants spent from 50,000 to 80,000 rubles, which is 5 percentage points more than a year earlier.
Statistics on the specific reasons for respondents' requests to the service are generally comparable to the results of last year, experts noted. Of the noticeable deviations, an increase in the number of requests due to battery discharge in severe frosts stands out from 18 to 24%. 16% faced an engine start problem compared to 15% in 2025; 11% of respondents noted malfunctions in the braking system, as they did a year ago.
The satisfaction level of Chinese car owners from operating their cars in winter has reached a plateau after a noticeable increase a year ago. 80% rated it at a maximum of 5 or 4 points, which is slightly lower than the results of 2025. The number of car owners who were completely dissatisfied with their car this winter remains less than 1%.
The day before, it was reported that if in 2014 the average price of a new passenger car was 1.2 million rubles, by now it has reached 3.79 million rubles. Thus, in 12 years, new cars have more than tripled in price (+216%). Prices for used cars increased in the same way during this period (+210%) — from 435 thousand to 1.35 million rubles.
