Spring is the time of the year when many chronic diseases worsen. During this period, allergic reactions, viral infections may occur, and diseases of the gastrointestinal tract (GIT) may become more active. The chief physician of the Your Doctor clinic and therapist Tatiana Romanenko told Izvestia about this.

According to her, the peak activity of various allergic diseases occurs in spring, which is associated with the beginning of flowering of plants, grasses and trees. In this regard, people who are prone to allergies begin to experience certain ailments.

"This is a manifestation of rhinitis, nasal congestion. The course of diseases of the respiratory system, especially bronchial asthma, may worsen. Against this background, some viral infections are joining," the doctor noted.

Romanenko explained that the activation of such diseases can be caused by hypothermia.

"Because we don't always dress seasonally, it seems to us that it's warm during the day, cold in the evening, and the risk of hypothermia increases in the spring. And there is a combination of allergic diseases with colds, which are associated with viruses. This is one side of the issue," the therapist emphasized.

In addition, the risk of exacerbation of gastrointestinal diseases increases in the spring, which is also associated with certain habits and actions of people.

"In the spring, our lifestyle changes, we start walking more, going out of town. The diet is changing, and the barbecue season is starting. Here there is a special load on the gastrointestinal tract and there is another danger - an exacerbation of gastrointestinal diseases," Romanenko said.

In particular, this applies to diseases of the liver, intestines and pancreas - pancreatitis and cholecystitis. In addition, the doctor refuted the myth of an exacerbation of ulcers and gastritis in the spring, noting that the cause of these diseases is a helicobacter infection.

"As such, we are not currently seeing a seasonal exacerbation of gastritis and ulcers, because we have started to treat them correctly, and we have been treating them correctly for 20 years. But still, patients have the opinion that the immortal stomach begins to behave badly. Most often, this is due to the expansion of the physics of the diet," concluded the chief physician.

On April 28, allergist-immunologist "Polyclinic.<url>" Alina Romanova said that allergy sufferers are most suited to cool, humid climates or highlands. She noted that it could be the Black Sea coast or the Southern coast of Crimea, where the air is nailing allergens to the ground.
