Medical, engineering and pedagogical specialties are leading in the number of budget places in the admission campaign of 2026. This was announced at a conference on April 29 by Andrey Omelchuk, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, during a press conference "Features of the admission campaign for the 2026/2027 academic year" at the Rossiya Segodnya press center.
"The top in terms of budget places are medical specialties, the largest block is engineering specialties, and almost 79,000 budget places have been allocated for teacher education," Omelchuk said.
In total, more than 620 thousand budget places have been allocated for the 2026/2027 academic year. According to the presentation, more than 83 thousand places have been established within the quota for targeted training: about 34 thousand for healthcare and medical sciences, 19.5 thousand for engineering and technical sciences, and 13.5 thousand places for education and pedagogical sciences.
