The State Duma warned about the consequences of late payment of housing and communal services

Those who miss the due date for housing and communal services must immediately pay off the debt or coordinate the schedule in writing with the management organization, HOA or resource supply organization. This was announced on April 29 by State Duma Deputy Alexander Yakubovsky.

"The first 30 days provide an opportunity to close the debt without additional charges. But if the situation is prolonged, the debt will start to grow. In case of prolonged non—payment, a warning, restriction of certain utilities, and then judicial enforcement may follow," the parliamentarian explained in an interview with RT.

He recalled that penalties are not accrued in the first 30 days of delay. In case of prolonged non-payment, warnings, restrictions on certain services, and judicial penalties are possible. If the amount in the payment raises questions, you should request a transcript of the charges and check the meter readings.

Yakubovsky added that it is better to record appeals in writing through GIS housing and communal services, a personal account or a statement. Not being able to pay the entire amount at once does not eliminate the need to contact the organization and arrange a repayment schedule — this reduces the risk of service restrictions, penalties, and legal disputes.

Sergey Kolunov, deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on Construction and Housing and Communal Services, said on April 28 that Russians need to pay for housing and communal services in April by May 15. The last day of payment falls during business hours. Holidays are not an obstacle to paying. According to Kolunov, there should be no problems in the work of resource supply organizations and management companies during this period.
