- Zakharova pointed out that Germany was delaying the investigation of the attack on Nord Streams
The German authorities continue to delay the investigation of the attack on the Nord Stream and Nord Stream–2 gas pipelines. This was announced on Wednesday, April 29, by the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, during her briefing.
"As expected, all the proceedings conducted by Western countries have led to nothing. <...> Germany continues to delay the process, avoiding providing meaningful information to both the UN Security Council and its own citizens," she said.
The investigations conducted by Denmark and Sweden, as Zakharova added, did not yield results, so their initiators preferred to forget about the terrorist attack. At the same time, all initiatives coming from Russia, according to her, are either ignored or suppressed under "far-fetched pretexts."
"Our (Russian. — Ed.) the position remains unchanged. We demand an honest, open and impartial investigation, and not fakes for it in the form of publications of versions of journalists allegedly admitted to certain classified materials, if there are classified materials, let the investigation deal with them," Zakharova added.
The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry added that Moscow intends to seek justice by all available international legal means. Russian representatives, as she clarified, have already submitted their pre-trial claims to a number of countries and, if the issue is not resolved, they will appeal to the International Court of Justice.
On April 2, Oleg Tyapkin, Director of the third European Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, criticized Germany for violating its obligations in cooperation with the Russian Federation on the investigation of the terrorist attack on Nord Streams. According to him, the steps taken by Berlin indicate non-compliance with the International Convention for the Suppression of Terrorist Bombings and the International Convention for the Suppression of the Financing of Terrorism.
A few days earlier, on March 27, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the legal situation around these facilities affected in 2022 was difficult.
