In Kiev, a teacher was fired for speaking in Russian
In Kiev, a teacher lost his job at one of the capital's lyceums in Ukraine because of speaking Russian. This was stated by the language Ombudsman Elena Ivanovskaya.
"Igor Spiridonov, a representative of the Commissioner for the Protection of the state language, based on the results of state control measures at the Moscow lyceum, established a violation by a teaching staff member of the requirements of Article 21 of the Law of Ukraine ("On Ensuring the Functioning of the Ukrainian Language as the state Language")," reads an April 28 message on Ivanovskaya's Facebook page (owned by the Meta organization, which is recognized in the Russian Federation extremist and banned).
She added that, according to Spiridonov, high school students at the lyceum had recorded signs of a so-called "language disorder." It is noted that the lyceum management, in turn, announced the termination of employment relations with the teacher.
On April 23, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, pointed out the popularity of the Russian language in Ukraine. According to her, restrictions on the Russian language in Ukraine are increasing and are manifested in the form of various bans, direct repression, quotas and "Spreichenfuhrers."
