Gymnast Arina Averina broke up with figure skater Dmitry Aliyev after he was diagnosed with tuberculosis. The athlete stated this in an interview with Channel One.

"It wasn't easy, and I shut down <...> Then everything in my life started to change. I had some kind of relationship that happened during this period, and it ended," he said. There is a lot of evidence online that the figure skater had an affair with Averina, for example, photos of the couple together.

Dmitry noted that accepting such a diagnosis was an ordeal for him. He didn't understand where he could have gotten infected. According to him, the disease provoked not only physical problems, but also a psychological crisis, so the athlete did not go out in public.
