The UK opened a case after reports of bullying in the Yekaterinburg rehab
The Investigative Committee (IC) has opened a criminal case on unlawful imprisonment after reports of violations at a rehabilitation center in Yekaterinburg. This was reported on April 29 on the website of the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee for the Sverdlovsk region.
"The Investigative Department for the Chkalovsky district of Yekaterinburg of the SU IC of Russia for the Sverdlovsk region has opened a criminal case on the grounds of a crime under Part 2 of Article 127 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Unlawful imprisonment committed by a group of persons")," the report says.
It is noted that law enforcement officers are working at the site, and an inspection is underway.
"Physical punishment — they tie you up with duct tape and put you in the bathroom for a certain time, for example. They can wrap it in a carpet, they can put it in a corner. I've seen people standing for weeks, they only have the right to look at the wall, they also eat. Pillar Day — you stand all the time, you can't sit down or lie down. Those who are tied up are walking under themselves. This is bullying, humiliation of personal dignity," one of the former patients shared in an interview with Izvestia.
According to lawyer Dmitry Mozheyko, the center's staff are former alcohol and drug addicts. According to him, the workers have no medical education, and their goal is only to make money from someone else's misfortune.
