Scammers deceived a Moscow teenager for 8 million rubles
Police officers detained a courier of fraudsters who deceived a 15-year-old Muscovite for 8 million rubles. This was announced on April 29 in the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in Moscow.
According to the agency, a 20-year-old resident of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug was detained, who acted on the instructions of remote supervisors and took money from the victim's apartment.
It was established that the teenager received calls from intruders who introduced themselves as government officials and, under threats, convinced him to perform a number of actions, including transferring access to the apartment.
After that, the courier entered the apartment, opened the safe and stole the money, which he later handed over to his accomplices.
"A criminal case has been opened under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Fraud on an especially large scale"). The person involved was taken into custody," the Maks messenger said.
On April 26, the Moscow prosecutor's office reported that telephone fraudsters stole more than 39.7 million rubles from an 80-year-old resident of Moscow and her adult daughter. It was noted that the pensioner received a call from an alleged employee of Gosuslug, who reported that her data had been leaked and a power of attorney had been issued on her behalf. In order to stop the illegal actions, the victim was required to follow the instructions.
