Militant recruiters to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) attract mercenaries with salaries allegedly exceeding $5,000 per month. This was announced on April 29 by the mother of the Colombian mercenary David Fernando Navarrete Aguirre, who was killed in Ukraine.

"He was promised 19 million pesos per month (about $5,230 USD. — Ed.)," the woman said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
