In April 2026, 90 mm of precipitation fell — with this indicator, the month may become one of the most abundant in terms of precipitation in history. This was announced on April 29 by Marina Makarova, a leading employee of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia.

"[This] month may be among the three wettest. By Tuesday, 90 mm of precipitation had fallen, or 243% of the monthly norm, it is 37 mm, that is, it is small. <...> In 2021, 91 mm of precipitation fell," Makarova said in an interview with TASS.

At the same time, April 1986 turned out to be the wettest month, when 98 mm of precipitation fell.

The day before, Evgeny Tishkovets, a leading specialist at the Phobos weather center, said that over 100% of the monthly precipitation rate had fallen in the Moscow Region over the past day. Such indicators were also found in the capital itself. So, during the designated period, 21 mm of precipitation was recorded at the VDNKh reference weather station, which was 56% of the monthly norm, and at the same facilities located in Baltschug and Tushino, 15 mm and 23 mm (62% of the monthly norm), respectively.
