The OP of the Russian Federation proposed to combine the May holidays

The May holidays can be made continuous from 1 to 9 May due to the January weekend. This proposal was introduced on April 29 by Vladislav Grib, Deputy Secretary of the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation.

"I would advocate postponing, for example, part of the January weekend to May, so that we can rest from May 1 to May 9.<...> We can reconsider the approach: rest, for example, until January 7 for the New Year holidays and postpone some of the days to May," he explained in an interview with RIA Novosti.

It is noted that many residents of the country already extend the May holidays due to vacations and time off. The proposed measure could make the holiday management system more convenient.​
