The head of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, Alexander Kurenkov, decided to increase the group of divers in the Tuapse area to inspect the Black Sea for oil spills after a fire at an oil storage facility. This was reported on the agency's website on April 28.

The Minister's task force flew around the Black Sea area near the city by helicopter. On behalf of Russian President Vladimir Putin, he personally monitors the progress of extinguishing fires at oil storage facilities after strikes by Ukrainian drones.

"On behalf of the head of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, a grouping of forces and assets is increasing in the region: consolidated detachments of the territorial departments of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations from the Krasnodar Territory and the Rostov Region are following the place," the publication says.

It is noted that the head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations will hold an operational meeting and make decisions on extinguishing, eliminating consequences and ensuring the livelihoods of the population.

The operational headquarters of the Krasnodar Territory reported on April 28 that a fire started at the Tuapse refinery due to falling drone debris. 122 people and 39 pieces of equipment were involved in extinguishing the fire. Residents of nearby houses began to be evacuated. Peskov said that rescuers are taking all measures to eliminate the consequences. A regional emergency mode has been introduced in Tuapse.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Kurenkov had reported to Putin about new fires in Tuapse after the Ukrainian drone strikes. Later it became known that Kurenkov flew to the Krasnodar Territory for personal control of fire extinguishing work.
