Iran uses the Strait of Hormuz for vessel traffic only if there are no threats to the republic. This was announced on April 28 by the representative of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic, General Reza Talaik.

"The unhindered movement of the merchant fleet [through the Strait of Hormuz] after the end of the war will be carried out if there is no threat to Iran's security," Tasnim news agency quoted him as saying on the Telegram channel.

He noted that US President Donald Trump makes frivolous statements about the destruction of civilizations and the overthrow of governments. According to him, the victory and continuation of this approach will put the world on the brink of a dangerous, uncontrollable and unpredictable situation.

CNN reported on April 27 that the United States and Iran continue to conduct behind-the-scenes negotiations on a peaceful settlement, the first stage of which may be an agreement to return to the pre-war status quo and resume free navigation through the Strait of Hormuz. It is noted that the issue of the Iranian nuclear program will have to be considered later.
